Melissa Miller is a litigation attorney in the New Orleans office. Her practice is primarily focused on matters involving general liability, worker’s compensation, insurance coverage and admiralty and maritime law, including the Longshore and Harbor Workers’ Compensation Act (LHWCA) and the Defense Base Act (DBA).
Melissa was admitted to the Louisiana State Bar in October 2017. She is admitted to practice in all state and federal courts of Louisiana and the United States Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals.
In her academic studies she earned her Bachelor of Arts from Duke University, with degrees in Public Policy, Women’s Studies and German. In 2017, Melissa earned her Juris Doctorate, cum laude, from Tulane University Law School with a certificate in Admiralty and Maritime Law. During her time at Tulane, Melissa was a Managing Editor on the Maritime Law Journal and student attorney for Tulane’s Civil Litigation clinic.
Prior to joining the firm in 2019, Melissa began her legal career at a defense firm in New Orleans, focusing on insurance defense, including defending clients in claims arising under the Longshore and Harbor Workers’ Compensation Act, the Defense Base Act, and the Louisiana Workers’ Compensation Act.
Having lived all over the country while growing up, Melissa was able to meet new kinds of people and encounter new experiences. Her great interest in admiralty maritime law ensures that each client is catered to in their specific defense strategy to optimize the outcome of each of her cases.
